State of the Cities Data Systems

“The SOCDS provides data for individual Metropolitan Areas, Central Cities, and Suburbs.” Detailed demographic and economic characteristics of the population are found under the Historical Data from the 1970, 1980, and 1990 Census link. Jobs, Business Establishments, and Average Pay in the 1990s information is located under the Special City Extracts from County Business Patterns. There is a Crime Data link to provide FBI crime data. The State of the Cities 2000 Fast-Look link provides the latest data on 114 selected cities released as part of the State of the Cities 2000. National Conference of State Legislatures

NCSL is a bipartisan organization, founded in 1975, and serving all 50 states. The site maintains links to research, publications, news, a wide range of policy issues, meetings and conferences. Much of the information at this site is available via searchable databases. Links to all available state legislatures are maintained, as well as to links to state ethics laws.
