Britannica Internet Guide

Britannica Internet Guide currently includes 65,000 sites covering fourteen subject areas. You can search only the Britannica directory or to include an AltaVista search. The site is compiled by editors and indexers with subject expertise and strong academic credentials.

Switzerland & the Holocaust Assets

This site strives to be a one-stop independent resource for information on the international dispute concerning the recovery and redistribution of holocaust assets. There are selected articles from the Swiss and international press, links to web sites related to the current discussion, Usenet links, links to lists of dormant accounts and links to web sites about the Papon Trial in and France’s questioning of its past. There are links for sending e-mail messages to the various groups or persons active in the controversy, a timeline of past events, upcoming conferences & events, links to essential documents, and links to web sites related to World War II history and the history of the Holocaust.

Phrase Finder

At this site, you may type in a word and be rewarded with a list of phrases or sayings that relate to that word. Over 4,000 phrases are included and anyone can add to the database.

Search Insider

This is a helpful site for the new searcher to the Internet as wells as a useful site to find the latest tips and news about the various search engines. It gives the browser tips, news, reviews and a variety of resources related to web searching. There is an e-mail discussion list called Search Talk and a monthly e-mail newsletter entitled Search News. There a links to sites which provide general search help and articles.

USP (US Pharmacopeia)

This USP site is divided into six sections two of which cover USP products and publications. The Standards Development section covers standards development for drugs and dosage with a searchable USP reference catalog. The Drug Information section has resources such as Standard Elements which is a searchable database of descriptions, precautions, proper use and side/adverse effects for more than 750 generic drugs, Practitioner’s Reporting News with summaries of medication error and drug problem reports from health care professionals, and Quality Review supplying case studies generated by health care professionals on the quality, safety and performance of drugs and medicines.

This site includes information about the Foundation Center, its publications, and CD-ROM materials. The Online Library includes links to Nonprofit Resources, The Foundation Center’sUser-Friendly Guide to Funding Research and Resources, A Proposal Writing Short Course, and Common Grant Application Forms. Global Corporate Information Services: Japanese Company Reports

Global Corporate Information provides annual reports for over 100 companies, short profiles of more than 800 companies, and links to 285 company home pages. The site can be viewed in English or Japanese.

RAVE represents Research Articles and Decisions in Public International Law and European Law. The site can be viewed in English, French or German. Citations are listed in the language of their origin. The database is updated on a three month basis. 2,000+ articles and decisions are covered from 1995-1997. There are 78 legal journals covered. Links are offered to these publications if they are available on the Internet. An Excite search engine is used for searching. The free search allows searching for author’s names or keywords in a title or subtitle of an article. You can browse by a systematic index. A list of abbreviations and journals is provided.

This site has a state, national, and international listing of COG and MCOG entities such as metropolitan planning organizations, economic development districts, and regional councils. There are links to each group.

SEDAR is the System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval in Canada. Beginning in January 1997 it has been used to electronically file securities related information with the Canadian Securities Administrators. There are links to Canadian and American regulatory sites and stock exchanges in Canada, London, and Tokyo. Profiles of companies can be located through an alphabetical hyperlink listing of company names. You can also view an individual companies documents. Mutual Fund documents can be searched by fund name, document type and date of filing.
